Re: Welded Dana 35

I think i'm gonna take my 12 Bolt down to Jimmy in a few weeks and getting it welded.  Anyone one care to explain the difference between a mini-spool and a full-spool ???  if i weld my rear can i put a spool on the front? How much trouble would this be?

Re: Welded Dana 35

jimmy can explain it better. the spool acts like a welded rear ecept when u brake it, it is easier to replace. but i am sure u would rather spool the rear and use a locker up front

Re: Welded Dana 35

the mini spool replaces the spider gears w/ a multi piece locking unit that lets you access the c clips...thats what holds the shaft in, any axle w/ a diff cover...a full spool is for non c clip axles ie toyota's, ford 9 inch, any axle that doesn't have a diff cover...because w/ a full spool it wont allow you to get to the c clips...welding should be fine as i am still running a stock axles in the rear...as for the front, DO NOT WELD...when you turn the wheel left to right one wheel rolls forward a little and the other to the rear so that will force one wheel to drag, BUT...it transfers through the diff into the transfer case and thats also ties it to the rear end...whats that mean, in order to turn the wheel it takes alot of power and any factory power steering will not hold up...alot of over heating of the power steering system, which foams up the fluid and makes it that much harder to turn!!! did i mention that i broke 7 front axle shafts after a locker...you toyota guys don't have anything to worry about...those rice burners don't have enough power to get out of there own way...weld the rear, leave the front alone until you can buy a locker...if you plan on on running big tires, buy something strong...w/ your smaller tires a spider gear replacement locker will be fine...i have a brand new one that i got warranteed out that is new and i'll take $200 bucks for it...

Re: Welded Dana 35

well i can do layaway...but as far as in house financing i don't do that...but i CAN handle tearing that thing up for you if you would like...prepare to spend about $400 bucks for parts...axle, driveshaft adapter, bolts(freakin$5 ea. at the dealer) and a u-joint...

Re: Welded Dana 35

as long as you are easy w/ the right foot your not going taer that thing up...i mean its not made out of glass...and besides how are you gonna justify that 8.8 unless you break that D35...

the tire is like $186 and a wheel is about $50...if you just want a spare i can mount you a used wheel and tire for $95...the used will not be a claw...

the $400 bucks is parts only...i lost money on craigs axle after i found receipts after was all said and done...his gain...if you want me to do the install the best i can do is $150 labor...you know i have to pay these guys that do the work...that is about 6 weeks away...if you can do $100 you should be clear...we also take credit cards if that helps any...
